I am a Consultant General Adult and Liaison Psychiatrist. My main area of expertise is in adult mental health conditions such as anxiety, mood disorders, insomnia, personality disorder, ADHD and psychosis. I graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2013 and completed my specialist training in the South East of Scotland and London.
In the NHS I work as a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist and run the Lothian Psychodermatology Service. I also have experience working in gender affirming care and have collaborated with the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Scotland and the Scottish Government to promote inclusivity for LGBTQ+ individuals in mental health services.
In addition to my clinical work, I have a special interest in education and training. I have held a variety of honorary academic and research posts, and am currently the Undergraduate Education Lead for the Royal Edinburgh Hospital and Associated Services.
It is wonderful to be part of such an experienced, caring team at Edinburgh Psychiatry. Often people can be nervous visiting a psychiatrist for the first time and I think it is important to take time to build a therapeutic relationship and put people at ease. I use a holistic approach and work collaboratively with patients to build an evidence-based treatment plan. I am particularly passionate about the benefits of a good night’s sleep!
